SBS Show

SBS ShowThe SBS Show will be making its triumphant return from the extended spring break tomorrow. This is quite exciting because the type of content I'm coming back with is both inspirational and creative. In short, it is not what you would have expected out of the SBS Show because now that people actually know who we are the reception we have from the SMB IT community is fairly impressive. SBS Show has been and always will be about the community and the spirit of getting involved with other IT peers and learning from one another. We can all learn from one another, I hope the SBS Show can help drive that.

So what are we going to cover in the coming SBS Shows? For starters, looking at security consulting as an opportunity. Then utilizing the power of community and networking to make you a better and more comprehensive IT professional. In between we'll play some stuff from the community to let you "meet" some people virtually.

But let me ask you, what would you like to see/hear/do?

I would like to hear more about selling, making money, growing business. More concrete business topics.

First, you have an AWESOME show, thank you for all your hard work.

Second, something on mobility. I know its hard to stay on top of and I know your an expert.

Third, put up a donation box or tshirts or something! This show has helped me a lot, I want to thank you!

Again, let me start by saying great show. Your efforts are really appreciated.

I would be interested to hear about how others go about implementing SBS systems without allowing users administrator rights on local machines.

Perhaps also what group policy settings or templates they use in conjuction with this and any potential problems they have with it.

I have been reasonably succesful in implementing systems in this way but I am sure I could be doing it better.

I think the benefits outweigh the extra setup time and it would be great to hear you speak on the subject.

Thank again for a great show.

Another vote here that the SBS Show is great. I would like to hear more about deploying extra Windows servers in a SBS 2003 environment.

With the upcoming release of SBS 2003 R2 I beleive this is something us professionals should be looking at more closely.

I would also like a definate answer to a question:-

Does SBS 2003 licencing count each device as a licence? As an example - a network with 25 users, each with a laptop & a Windows Mobile 5 device. Then put in a couple of network printers. How many licences are in use?

I also agree with the tshirts idea posted above.

How about a conversation on selling things outside of Microsoft’s realm such as routers, PBX, networking, productivity software, etc?

So where is it? I’ve refreshed this page like 50 times today :)

Yeah, I’m working on that one :)

You see, I opened my fat mouth the last episode we taped and said “Hey, we have a brand new site to help you sign up for the SBS Show if you want to be reminded when we release a new episode via email”

Well, that sounded GREAT last week when we taped it because.. well, I had 7 days to get it done. Today while editing I realized I have forgotten something — the redesign.

So, sorry. I’m gonna try to get it up there tomorrow but I’m not making many promises. The site has almost been completely redesigned to make it pretty.

I second that.. You shows are great and i really appreciate the effort you put into this stuff! The content still has a long way to go compared to clubjenna.com, but you’re getting there ;-)
But seriously, i’d like a show on virtualization of SBS. (SBS on VMWare/Virtual Server and the pitfalls / advantages of this kind of setup). Also a show on mobility would be something really relevant.

Please give this guy a break! So its a few days late, are you stepping up to help edit the SBS Show, promote it, market it, distribute it to your friends or groups? If you think you can do better then make your own, just one. Just make one podcast. One webcast. Or just pull off one event. Then you’ll perhaps have more appreciation for all that is involved in making these and won’t sit on your hands asking where the next one is.
