Don’t buy a card scanner…that is lazy…type them in yourself…gives you time to remember who they are and an opportunity to send a quick note…takes longer, but hell it is worth the time investment.

As a lazy person I might add, instead of typing in contacts, just buy a cardscanner.
Make sure it interfaces with Outlook and then you not only have the clients info, but also a picture of the original biz card w/all your notes on it.

You’ve got a pretty good handle on this. I would add that you treat business contacts with business respect which means do not start treating them as friends after you’ve exchanged a few emails. I’ve been added to forward lists (inappropriate jokes) so many times by vendors that I have lost count.
