Do you bleed blue and orange when tasered?

I don’t write about politics on this blog but watching tasering video of an annoying little entitled prick really made me proud of my alma mata, University of Florida:

Protest

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqAVvlyVbag

Why is it so hard for people to show some respect for the law, comon decency and decorum? You are a student at the University of Florida. You are in a classroom. You are attending a speach by a US Senator. Show some respect, this isn’t a football game and you aren’t yelling at the Chief Osceola after he spikes the war spear into the Gator logo at the 50 yard line, you’re in an academic setting and expected to behave like a student.

It is a damn shame that a taser is needed to teach people that…

As for my young, proud white civil rights brothers fighting the oppression.. How very Martin Luther King of you.. No, wait… I’m thinking about the wrong King. I meant Burger King – like the place you’ll be working 3 months from now after you drop out of college because instead of going to class you’re laying on a field with a sign strapped to your back. I hope the back of that cardboard is still blank, you’ll need it to write tearful slogans that will make people throw change at you from their cars.

What… a… waste.

You are full of shit. When was the last time that any member of our government had any respect for us. They screw us at every oppurtunity.

This guy probably was a jerk but our government officials have themselves surrounded by police or worse where ever they go and the stupid “adults” who get them to speak at places like the college only do it to further themselves so when things don’t go smoothly they immediatley call the “authorities” to stop the “problem”. Basically we aren’t supposed to “talk back” in this country directly to our leaders even though that is what the country was founded on. People are finally getting fed up with it and starting to make it known that we are no longer going to put up with it.

Oh, cry me a river, please.

This is exactly what im taking about - not knowing your place. it was a question and answer period. he didnt ask question, he was reading his speach. when he was asked to ask a question, he made an inappropriate comment. when he was moved from the podium he was jumping around, while being escorted out he yelled like an idiot.

You can disagree, but if you do it at the wrong time and the wrong place… well, you eat some taser juice.

bzzzzzzt.. aaaaaaaa… bzzzzzzzt.. aaaaaaa…. off to jail with you.

as for not putting up with it, notice that everyone else was sitting down while he was being tasered. sure looks like he took it.. and where they took him after that i am sure he was taikng it a whole lot more, for all the right reasons.

sick and tired of people that just whine and bitch and do nothing constructive. colleges used to have protests, this guy was rude and got tasered for being a mic hog. and if you can tell, everyone paid attention to the tasering, not what he said to kerry.

Your kind of attitude explains why Bush was allowed to get away with rigging the election. Your kind of attitude explains why y’all swallowed the Sadam / al Qaeda alliance lies Bush spouted as an excuse to invade Iraq. Everyone across the pond heard Bush talking about Sadam & Osama being friends & wondered what on Earth he was talking about.

Point is: what kind of country are you all letting the USA become when you think it’s ok to taser a student because he won’t shut up?!?

Decorum gets you Bush. Law? That’s just for the little people to follow. Common decency: what’s common among the public is not the same as what is common amongst those that govern them.

Standing up and speaking at the ‘wrong’ time is sometimes necessary. And those with half a brain WILL go beyond the tasering and listen to what he said. And those without? They don’t care anyway - they just think it’s funny.

Yes, we should have anarchy every time a bad political move is made - oh, if I only could live in a place that had a civil war every time one dictator got swept by another maniac, so our country could change name and borders every other decade…

No thanks…. We have a right in US called civil protests. But if you can’t behave in a school you get tasered.

Correct me if I am wrong but he did not get tasered because he “wouldn’t shut up”. In fact I do not remember anyone ever telling him to “shut up”… he was tasered because he was being very forceful and resisting to the campus police. It wasn’t “If you do not shut up, you will be tased.” it was “If you do not stop resisting, you will be tased.” in more or less words… he was arrested because he wouldn’t move and let others in so the meeting could continue.

He had his free speech, he had it while he was at the mic, he had it while he was being dragged away, I’m sure he still had it while he was in whatever vehicle they transported him away in, and he still had it while he was sitting in whatever room they kept him in while figuring out what to do with him.

What if he just stood at the mic and refused to leave it without saying a word? Would he have still been asked to leave? Of course. If he resisted, would the cops have still gotten forceful with him? Of course.

Did no-one see the 4 or 5 cops around this guy. Yes he looked a little weird and yes he got over excited with Kerry there. I think the point is the response was not proportionate to the threat or his actions. Tell him to shut up if you really think he’s disturbing the meeting. Yes throw him out, arrest him. But taser? Thats overkill! And like I said there are 4 cops holding him down .He wasn’t that big or violent… Looked like a little scared puppy to me…

Magic words = Proportionate response.

ps. Nothing like a political post to get some comments going

Theo,

I would totally taser you for that comment!

I can tell. I’m glad your in IT and not law enforcement. Do you use tasers on your employees ?

Just think of how funny this would be if it were some kind of automated spanking machine rather than a taser. ‘Cause that’s really what that kid needs. Hey, I think the officers just weren’t supplied with the proper equipment.
