HA! I love it! It's so true. I've seen alot of "Old Timers" that think they know technology... they wear their Blue Tooth ear piece as a badge of honor... "look at me... I was smart enough to get these to work". Yeah but you dont know how to install a legit Cert for your phone to sync or know how to change your HELO statement so mail doesn't get bounced. SBS is a tool for those who know how to use it, unfortunatley most who use it, are tools. ~SB

Vijay,

There will always be servers on-site. As a matter of fact, many of the places going cloud today are going to have local caching points eventually. They will just likely be dumb backup devices for disaster recovery and compliance/discovery though.

Microsoft has gone direct to compete with it's partner base. Basically a huge F U to every Microsoft reseller.

Own Web Now has always been a partner company and we push partners first. We don't even take orders or calls from SMB customers. However, large part (larger than everything except ExchangeDefender) has been enterprise consulting and BI development as you can tell from all the other products you see me talk about. Those companies have their own IT departments and they don't need/want a partner, and they only get contracts directly with us because they work directly with us. They also pay a heck of a lot more than the partners do.

Don't think that's just a subtle difference.

On the SMB end, we're partner only. That will likely never change so long as I have my say.

Okay, I know your strategy and belief is that there will be no onsite servers in the future, fair enough! But on Susan's blog you write "But, the sales are overwhelmingly direct. We have very, very, very few SBS consultants selling Exchange 2007 and SharePoint and the like. It's all direct sales to the IT manager or CIO of a larger company that no longer sees a value in onsite IT expenses.". Now, I thought you were making much of your pure Partner Model as opposed to Microsoft going direct!
