Vladfire Episode #3 with Susanne Dansey. Susanne works as a Business Development Manager for ReadyCrest Ltd, leads the Kent SBS group, moderates SBSBPI.co.uk, co-hosts the SBS Show and does a ton of work for the SMB community in general. As one of the most outspoken leaders she constantly promotes the concept of partnerships, understanding the clients IT needs, explains how to position products and services sensibly and hopefully motivates you to run your business in a whole new way.

Note: This is the first part of her speech, she went on for close to an hour. Over the next week I hope to bring you her presentation as well as two other partners in UK that excelled with SBSC. Susanne can't pronounce ship properly so if you find yourself rewinding to hear what she actually said.. it's ship. And no, she is not a ghost – this was shot in a dark conference room.

Man…..

If you dig this chick that badly… Couldn’t you just tell her?

In the mean time keep it up with the daily blogs, im sure she will figure it out eventually :)

Susanne |

You’re meant to say that episode 3 was interesting and not that Vlad is my professional PR agent! :)

JStyles |

Wow, he wasn’t kidding about the respect for Susanne. I can’t wait to see what he does to introduce Chris!

This is some seriously good stuff though, you ROCK Susanne!

Susanne |

Gold star for JStyles :)

vlad |

Oh, she knows. I don’t bs around a lot, if I tell you she is that good then you know she is that good.

Watch the video, I beg you to differ.

And oh Susanne.. Please make checks payable to:

MarkS |

Wow thats British, almost needs subtitles!

Mark |

Oh Vlad is right. What else is new, right?

Susanne is the best, bar none. I saw her present at SMB Nation on just how the customer views a server. Until that point I prided myself on understanding the customer but Susanne is clearly several levels beyond that. Her `its just a box` speech has fundamentally changed how we position, sell and support SBS in my company.

Susanne, if you are coming to SMB Nation this year I owe you a tall drink!

Luis Perez |

You were not kidding when you said you are bringing back the best. She is simply that. Guys.. listen……

With maybe Jeff, HandyAndy and a few others Susanne is really a treasure in our community. It is so gratifying to watch someone so classy talk about the benefits and importance of the community. But it is not just give, give, give. It is also about using it to your advantage. Ms Dansey clearly gets it.

Thank you Susanne, thank you Vlad…. thank you for bringing this out. When is part 2 going to be out.

Terry |

You are really making me kick my own ass for not going to the Symposium Vlad. I really wish I could have seen this live, she is one smart cookie!

Terry

Jonah Ellis |

Nice screencap.. I think she has second thoughts about jumping in, it looks deep.

Susanne |

Oh it is, but the water is lovely!

Thank you for such kind comments - I really am proud to read them.

CharlesM |

Lighting sucks.. but great content. She is very sharp. She even glows! WTG Susanne, glad to see you’ve impressed Vlad! We should all be so lucky.

vlad |

Hi Charles,

Let me just say that if I used professional lighting that you do, sir, I’d be arrested or beaten on the scene. I one day wish I can be in your line of work. :)

For what its worth the filming was done in a dark conference room and I was front-row. To say that it was dark is an understatement. I turned up brightness and turned down contrast just so you can see the folks.

Without the filter it was half Susanne half Darth Vader. She would turn to the side and half her face would go completely black.

The video shot on the conference floor and in the “Video Room” with maybe half a dozen folks is far better. It’s close up and personal, excellent lighting, quiet atmosphere.. just good. There was just not going to be a way to pull something like that off with Susanne or Chris, there was no way I would get them in a room to be serious and look at the camera. If you doubt that look at #2 :)

happyfunboy |

in our defense…

by the time vlad gets done asking a single question, which consists of:

- a preamble
- a brief history of the socio-political consequences of say, right-clicking versus left-clicking
- a doxology
- a prayer
- the answer as he wants you to say it
- some unrelated fluff he found in his bellybutton
- *another* rewording of the question
- a brief bathroom break for him to “clear his head”
- a final restatement of both the question & the answer he’s looking for…

it’s impossible to even remember how to spell your own name.

then, once you do answer the question, he’ll say…

“yeah, ok, boring…i’m cutting that”

queenie & i kid around a lot because it’s far cheaper & less painful than therapy…or a lobotomy.

Lisal |

Dear Vlad,

Is there any way you could make these available on a DVD via cafepress or something? I just got done with a near 2 hour download of this episode and found her spectacular. If this is what you’re up to I would love to get some sort of subscription to it.

Susanne, thank you, I found you very inspirational! You are a great public speaker.

Lisal,

Like everything I do, this content is licensed under Creative Commons meaning it is free. The IP mentioned is property of the person being interviewed (ie, Susanne) and there is no goal to turn this into a commercial venture.

What is important here is the message, not the delivery. It is important for that message to reach as many as could possibly be influenced (or educated) by it.

If you feel obligated to pay back for what you learn here you are more than encouraged to fully support the people you see in the video in terms of doing business with them or letting more people know about them. It’s what I’m doing. You can also start here if you can pardon a shameless plug.

This is the same girl from the few days ago? Wow. Thank you for bringing this back from WWPC Vlad she is a gem!

Wish I could have gone.

Frank Slates |

Great job Susanne! You certainly put the community in a business perspective I had not seen it in before. Thank you!

You glow girl!

ShawnW |

Susanne I loved your vlog. Can I have your permission to air this at our next user group meeting? I find your insight very thought provoking.

Webtech2 |

When do you expect to have #2 out?

Webtech2 |

Loved it btw, very insightful.

Susanne |

Hi ShawnW,

If Vlad is happy to then of course you can. The only thing I ask is that if anyone uses it for their group that you just let me know as I would love to know where it is being used for the good of the community.

Thanks

Susanne

Teresa |

Will you have the “box” speach someone mentioned in the comments at this years SMB Nation? I’m coming and really looking forward to it. I heard about it in Tampa and saw Vlad write about it but after seeing this I get it.

You are brilliant.

Dave Overton |

Susanne,

Sitting in the audience listening to you (and Mark and Tom) made me very proud of what you have all achieved. While MS hoped the communities would be beneficial we had never managed to get them off the ground in the UK until you and a few others really bought into the idea. Now we look to you for guidance on the community.

Well done and I hope the community continues to bring you happiness and lovely comments. :-)

Dave

Pauly |

Susanne, Great job representing UK!

Congrats on #3 Vlad, do you ever sleep?

Mmf23 |

Can’t wait to see the rest of this I’ve felt this way ever since the last time HarryB came through but our local group sucks. It is all and only about SBS and problems of people that Vlad frequently writes about. It aggrivates people I would love to meet from coming out because they have seen the community as a joke.

You won me in the first 30 seconds: “This is about the community not just SBS. Yes there is SBS there but there is a lot more to it.”

You’ve made my week.

Brian Leech |

Susanne has renewed my faith in the SBS community, I’m going to go back to the next meeting and make sure we play this video for everyone to see whats possible.

Thanks!

Folks,

Please keep it clean.

Serena |

When will #4 (or part 2 of this be out). Very inspirational. Why can’t Microsoft put this on instead of webcast garbage nobody watches?

Ian |

Serena: Because Microsoft only shows you how to sell in SMB, not how to build your business. Every now and then TS2 will break out a decent webcast but they are few and far in between when compared to sales and marketing.

Susanne, great job. Vlad is right, you are gorgeous. And smart.

Vlad, Susanne, Thank you for making my week. It's been a rough one but this video really lifted my spirits about what I do.

It is nice to see there are good people out there. It is even nicer to see that you are successful. Thank you for all you two do.. this video, community, SBS Show.

Susanne,

Played the video today to my partners to show them what we need to work on. I think this presentation opened many eyes around the room to the possibilities. Thank you!

JH:
Vlad is engaged to a girl with the most beautiful blue eyes in the world. Susanne is just a friend. It is inappropriate for you to speculate on someones sleeping arrangements in public.

nicole.n. |

Excellent vlog. It’s like BBC presents the SBS Community! Very interesting.

Pat Nolan |

I had no idea SMB was so connected in England. Looking at sbsbpi right now. We will be coming to the table soon.

AlNail |

Cute and smart, loved the episode. Is it too early to start saying “BEST ONE EVER” like we do for SBS Show?

E-Bitz - SBS MVP the Official Blog of the SBS "Diva" : Have you seen the Susanne videos? |

[...] Have you seen the Susanne videos? You have to watch the “Susanne” videos … but at the same time I gotta figure out how Vlad is doing those headlines up there… first he had Vlad in front of California Adventure…then Vlad and Katie on the beach… and now he’s got Disneyland up there (and for the record it’s Disneyland and not Magic Kingdom in Florida, as you can tell from the way the castle is decorated).
